Principle of the Test
- The FPV Ag Rapid Test Kit is based on lateral flow immunochromatography.
- The test strip is coated with monoclonal antibodies specific to FPV antigen. When the extracted sample is added to the sample well:
- If FPV antigen is present, it binds with colloidal gold-labeled anti-FPV antibodies.
- The antigen–antibody complex migrates along the membrane by capillary action.
- The complex is captured at the Test line (T), forming a visible colored line.
Test Procedure
Always follow the instructions provided with the specific kit. The general procedure is as follows:
- Preparation
Allow the test cassette, sample, and buffer to reach room temperature (15–30°C).
Remove the test cassette from the sealed pouch.
- Sample Collection
Collect a small amount of feline feces using the provided swab.
Insert the swab into the sample extraction buffer tube and mix thoroughly.
- Sample Loading
Attach the dropper tip to the tube.
Add 3–4 drops of the extracted sample into the sample well (S) on the cassette.
- Result Reading
Read the result within 5–10 minutes.
Do not interpret results after the maximum time stated in the instructions.

Result Display Interpretation
- Two lines (C + T) Positive – FPV antigen is detected in the sample.
- One line (C only) Negative – No FPV antigen detected.
- No C line Invalid – The test is not valid and should be repeated.
FAQ
Q1: Can this test be used at home?
Yes. The test is easy to operate and can be used for preliminary screening at home. However, positive results should be confirmed by a veterinarian and combined with clinical symptoms for diagnosis.
Q2: Does this test require a blood sample?
No. This test uses fecal samples or rectal swabs. It is not a blood test.
Q3: Why might false positive results occur?
False positives may occur shortly after vaccination, as vaccine-derived viral antigens may still be present in the feces.
Q4: Does a negative result guarantee no infection?
Not necessarily. In early stages of infection, viral levels may be too low to detect. Retesting or using molecular methods (such as PCR) is recommended if clinical signs persist.
Q5: How should used materials be disposed of?
All used test materials should be treated as biohazard waste and disposed of according to local veterinary or medical waste regulations.
